What is the RRB NTPC 10+2 Level Exam?


    RRB NTPC 10+2 exam is a crucial phase in the railway recruitment process. Under this, posts like Accounts Clerk, Junior Clerk, and Train Clerk are selected. It is recruitment for different non-technical jobs in the Indian Railways. While Level 1 exams are for Group D posts, the 10+2 level NTPC exam is slightly more advanced and is designed for candidates with intermediate qualifications. It offers better responsibilities and a higher salary compared to entry-level posts.

Eligibility Criteria


    Educational Qualification: Candidates should have passed at least 12th (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognized board.

    Age Limit: Usually falls between 18 to 30 years. Age relaxation is applicable for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per government norms.

Exam Pattern


    RRB NTPC Inter Level Exam is conducted in two stages CBT 1 and CBT 2. Both the exams are online computer based.

  • CBT 1: It consists of 100 questions, each question carrying one mark, and the duration of the exam is 90 minutes and there is negative marking of ⅓. In this, there are questions of 40 marks from General Awareness, 30 marks from Math and 30 marks from Reasoning.
  • CBT 2: In this, 120 questions are asked, each question is of one mark, the total time of the exam is 90 minutes and there is negative marking of ⅓.In this, questions of 50 marks are asked from General Awareness, 35 marks from Match and 35 marks from Reasoning.

After qualifying both the exams, candidates have to appear for a Typing Test (for Clerk posts) or Computer Based Aptitude Test (for Station Master/ Traffic Assistant).

After qualifying this also, there is document verification and medical examination.

Here’s what each section covers:

  • General Awareness: In General Awareness, questions are asked from Current Affairs, Static GK, Basic History and Geography of India.
  • Mathematics: In this, Number system, percentage, profit and loss, time, work and speed, algebra and some basics of geometry are asked.
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: In this, puzzles and sitting arrangements, analogy, series, coding-decoding, syllogism and questions related to blood relations are asked.
  • General Science: In this, questions from basic physics, chemistry and biology up to high school level are asked.
