LIC Recruitment 2025: Eligibility Criteria

• Eligibility Date: Eligibility as on 01-08-2025

Age Relaxation:

• SC/ST/OBC : There is a relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST category candidates and 3 years for OBC category candidates.
• PwBD : There is a relaxation of 10 years for PwBD candidates of General category, 13 years for OBC and 15 years for SC/ST candidates.
• Ex-Servicemen : There is a relaxation of 5 years for Ex-Servicemen of General category, 8 years for OBC category and 10 years for SC/ST category candidates.
• LIC employees : There is an additional exemption of 5 years for confirmed LIC employees.

LIC Recruitment 2025: Selection Process

Below is the stage wise breakdown of the selection process that candidates need to know.

1.Phase-I: Preliminary Examination (objective)

• This exam is a computer based online exam and all the questions in it are objective.
• There are a total of 100 questions in it. Out of which 70 marks account for merit and the English section is only qualifying.
• There is a time period of 60 minutes, 20 minutes for each area.
• There is no negative marking in AAO (Generalist). But in AAO (Specialist) & AAO (Legal) there is a negative marking of ¼.
• After qualifying the prelims, candidates are called for mains.

2.Phase-II: Main Examination (objective + descriptive)

• This exam is also online computer based. It contains both objective and descriptive type questions.
• Reasoning ability, General knowledge & current affairs, Data analysis and interpretation, Insurance and financial awareness are the objective areas whereas English which is qualify.
• There are typically 120 questions in this which carry a total of 300 marks.
• The exam duration for AAO (Generalist) is 2 hours and for AAO (Specialist) & AAO (Legal) is 2 hours & 30 minutes.
• There is no negative marking in this.
• Only objective test marks are counted for merit, descriptive marks are qualifying.

3.Phase-III: Interview

• This is commonly up to 60 marks.
• Historically, 30 marks for General/OBC/EWS and 27 marks for SC/ST/PwBD are the benchmark for qualifying. Check the latest official notification to confirm details.
• Typically, three times the number of vacancies are called for an interview.

4.Pre-Recruitment Medical Examination

• After successfully passing the interview, the candidates have to undergo a medical examination which is done to check their fitness.
• This is the final stage of selection. If you are medically fit and all your documents are verified, then you have qualified for this exam.

Note : Final merit based on Main Examination + Interview (English Descriptive is qualifying only)

LIC AAO (Specialist) 2025: Exam Pattern

Phase I: Preliminary Exam (AAO Specialists/Engineering)

• Negative marking in Prelims: There is negative marking of ¼ in this.
• Sectional & overall cut-offs decided by LIC: In this, approximately 20 times the total number of vacancies are shortlisted (category-wise, subject to availability).

Phase II: Main Exam (AAO Specialists/Legal)

• There is no negative marking in Mains.
• The descriptive part of the candidates who will score minimum passing marks in the qualifying objective part will be evaluated, so you must keep in mind that you need to score minimum passing marks in the qualifying section.
• English will be of only 25 marks in the mains exam, it includes essay and letter writing and you just have to qualify in it, its marks will not be counted in the final merit list
• Approx. 3x vacancies will be called for Interview (category-wise, subject to availability).

LIC Recruitment 2025: Salary & Benefits

• Basic Pay: ₹88,635 per month (Scale: ₹88,635–4385(14)–150,025–4750(4)–169,025)
• Approx. Gross (A-Class City): ~₹1,26,000 per month (including HRA/CCA as applicable)

Key Service Conditions

• Posting: AAO (CS): Mumbai only. AAO (CA/Actuarial): Mumbai or any of 8 Zonal Offices. AAO (Insurance Specialist): initially 5 years in mofussil branch. AAO (Legal): up to 1 year in a branch anywhere in India, then Legal Cells.
• Probation: 1 year (extendable up to 2 years) with continuous assessment.
• Guarantee Bond: Minimum 4 years of service (including probation); otherwise liquidated damages of ₹5,00,000 payable; Deed of Indemnity required.
